Jazlynn the Flower Girl*

Yesterday marked Jazlynn’s first time being a flower girl. The wedding was for a young woman who attends our church and who we have always loved for her ability to be so down to earth and sweet. I wish her and her new husband the best!

The wedding was winter themed and instead of flowers, Jazlynn was tasked with throwing “snow”. I was mostly impressed with the bride’s entrance at the chapel, which included a beautifully choreographed dance/walk by each bridesmaid and groomsmen – all to the song “A Thousand Years” by Christina Perri It was very pretty, though I will only share photos of Jazlynn here.

Here’s the official music video to the song in case you have not heard it (which seems kind of impossible, even if you haven’t watched any Twilight films like me).

Happy Sunday!

Motivation

We are all working towards something, a goal. I have recently shared mine of getting more for and becoming stronger.

You could be trying to finish school, getting your dream job, getting a great apartment, or even buying your first car.

Regardless of what drives you right now, there is ample of places for motivation. I’ve been using Noom and today’s challenge was to write what motivates me and place it somewhere I will see it to remind myself to keep going.

Here’s what I came up with:

The motivational quotes are from Pinterest and no matter what your goal is, you can put together your own. After choosing 6 quotes, I put them together with Photogrid (an Android app I use to create collages).

What goal are you working towards? What are the small steps you are taking to get there?

My new favorite breakfast

I’ve been trying to lose 10 pounds for the last year. Then again, I haven’t really been trying so much as wishing the weight away. Many people tell me I look great the way I am, and though this may be true I still don’t feel as strong as I’ve ever been.

I’ve been exercising at least 20 minutes each day for the last week and it feels so good. But even with counting calories there has been NO weight difference yet! I’m hoping it’s muscle building, but it also just may be too soon to see a big difference.

I’ve been having this in the AM and love it – wheat flakes with fresh berries. With my regular cup of Joe, I’m still under 200 calories for breakfast and because I’m eating whole grain feel full longer.

Now if only I can control my portions during dinner time!

Happy New Year!

End of things…

Just one more final exam and the Fall term is behind me. Since I work at a school, I will also be waiting for Winter Break and get TWO WEEKS of time off. I’m so excited 🙂

Just a short update, but I know there are so many out there doing the same thing and just keep in mind that you are always almost there. Even if you have years before your goal career like me, you can break it down to the little bits and celebrate each step you climb.

Reward yourself a little!

Holiday Wreath DIY

image

When I was just in grade school, I remember having to bring to class a wire hanger and a box of fold over sandwich bags and we made wreaths. Every once in a while, I’ll have a worthwhile memory like this and get excited to recreate the moment with my daughter. Today, Jazlynn and I made a couple of wreaths to hang in our home.

What you need to make 1 wreath:

  • 1 wire hanger
  • 50-75 fold over sandwich bags
  • energetic hands (it can take 20-30 minutes to finish one)

1st Bend the hanger to create a round shape (the base of your wreath).

2nd Take one sandwich bag and tie once around the wire hanger.

3rd Slide bag, and tie another.

4th Continue adding bags until the hanger is full.

5th Ta dah! Add a few ribbons (can be stapled or tied between bags) for customization.
