Why I stopped watching The Bachelorette

Why I stopped watching The Bachelorette (Season 11)

I just logged into my Hulu account to be sure, and I couldn’t get past episode 4 of the most recent Bachelorette. I’m sharing why I stopped watching The Bachelorette.

I’ve taken a bit to actually post about this because it is just another article for Kaitlyn to have and let’s be honest – she’s winning if I’m writing about her.

I’ll back up a little to give some background. I never have been a die hard fan of any reality show. I got into The Bachelor last season with Chris Soules (I was team Whitney since the beginning by the way!) – and this article about him kinda foreshadows where I’m going with this.  So of course I watch all the after shows and I got stepped into watching The Bachelorette (even though I wasn’t really looking forward to this battle of two ladies on one season).

Why I stopped watching The Bachelorette

I feel like since the beginning, Kaitlyn Bristowe is all about the attention and the potential money. There isn’t anything wrong with that, BUT it’s just annoying if she also cries in the back of a limousine because she “opened herself up” to heartbreak. That’s lying.

It didn’t help that I read all of the dirt Reality Steve posted before any of Season 11 went live. I learned from him (and suspect it’s all true), that Kaitlyn ends up staying single and not choosing anyone. This seems like someone who is using the show as a stepping stone.

Not only that, but in the few episodes I did see, it seems that most of what she set up was in her interests. The first set of dates included Stand Up Comedy with Any Schumer (comedy seems like something she wants to do, especially since it was brought out in Chris Soules’ season). Episode 4, which I didn’t watch, had a rap battle with Doug E. Fresh (music something else she “does”). I just really believe she’s using the show for exposure and opportunities.

The last draw for me were the previews for Episode 5 (the Nick incident). The sounds of panting and talk about what she did was just too much for me to take for the show. I get that the show needs to be real, but I am certain they were able to hide things like this in the past. There had to be a conversation about whether she wanted this to air or not and I don’t think she worried too much about what this might mean for how she was seen.

The funny thing is that between Brit and Kait, I was more excited to watch Kaitlyn. She’s young, fun, and has no real responsibilities waiting at home so a tv show seems like a good place for her. I don’t feel differently about that, but I can say that I’m certain this is the most fake attempt at “finding a husband” ever. No one self sabotages possible relationships by sleeping with a dude (who wasn’t even part of the original cast!?) this early in the show.

I watch the Bachelor for getting to know the people on the show and I’m always trying to read everyone to figure them out. It’s obvious Kaitlyn didn’t go on the show to find a husband and that’s okay. I’m just not gonna watch it because to me, that’s not what the show is about.
