So I know this title seems like clickbait, but the truth is I made $60 pet sitting from home this weekend and I want to tell you all about it!

A few weeks ago, I was thinking about how I can make some extra cash over the summer. My current main gig is as a substitute teacher and I cannot do that over the summer since school will be out. I’ve been delving in a few freelancing jobs here and there and I came upon a new app called DogVacay.

Services provided on DogVacay:

• Dog boarding
• Pet sitting
• Dog day care
• Dog walking

Setting up my profile

I quickly setup my profile and got on the website through my laptop to complete the registration to become a sitter. It was all relatively simple and within a couple of days my background was checked and I was good to go.

Preferences you can set:

• Holiday pricing (charge extra on the holidays)
• Services offered (you can just go and walk dogs if you don’t wish to board any in your home)
• How many dogs your are willing to board (options vary from 1 to 20)
• Number of potty breaks you can offer per day
• Rate
• Cancellation policy (minimum notice, etc.)
• Pet sizes accepted
• Ages
• Breeds
• And more!

How it works

Once your profile is setup, pet owners can find you in search if their pet meets your requirements. They then reach out to you through the app and you figure out whether a Meet and Greet is needed (something else you can require before a reservation). Once the pet owner and pet sitter feel it’s a good fit, the reservation is scheduled. There are a few videos on DogVacay.com, which proved to be super helpful in knowing what to consider throughout the entire process.

Overall review

I got my first reservation request within a week of signing up with DogVacay! I was so impressed because this is the quickest job application/hiring I’ve ever been through! As someone who loves animals, this is seriously one of the most rewarding ways to make some extra money. I had a great experience and would definitely recommend this app to friends who are either in need of a pet sitter or a way to make extra cash.
